Empowering Grassroots with Satellite and Remote Sensing Technology

  • Celebrating the Success of the Geospatial Technology Capacity Building Event! We're thrilled to announce the success of the two-day event organized by EarthSight Foundation with ISRO's support on July 8-9, 2023. Held at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, the event brought together 75+ participants for hands-on experience with geospatial tools. Day 1 focused on remote sensing for smart agriculture and water conservation, while Day 2 highlighted rural development planning using spatial data. With attendees ranging from Gram Sevaks to NGO leaders and journalists, the event fostered dynamic discussions and collaborations. A heartfelt thanks to all participants and partners.   • EarthSight Foundation, Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini and North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) joined forces to conduct a Geospatial Capacity building programme for Women leaders and officials in North East region of India, the initiative supported by the National Commission for Women (NCW). The EarthSight Foundation team is thankful to Ms Delina Khongdup, Honorable Member of NCW, for her gracious presence and active involvement during the two-day training workshop. The 72 women participants from various sectors involved in grassroots development grasped the power of Space and Geospatial technologies and were enabled to adapt these tools/solutions in their activities. Thanks to Dr SP Aggarwal and Ms Jonali Goswami for hosting this programme at the NESAC. Thanks to Shri PLN Raju, Special Secretary, Science and Technology, Assam Government, for his involvement and support.

  • EarthSight Foundation joined forces with the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini and the National Remote Sensing Centre of ISRO (NRSC) to conduct a Geospatial Capacity building programme for Women leaders and officials in Telangana and Andhra, the initiative supported by the National Commission for Women (NCW) on 20 and 21 June 2024. The EarthSight Foundation team is thankful to Prakash Chauhan and his team, including Mr Fyzee, for their support and active involvement during this two-day training workshop. The 65 women participants from various sectors involved in grassroots development grasped the power of Space and Geospatial technologies and were enabled to adapt these tools/solutions in their activities.

  • EarthSight Foundation conducted a Geospatial Capacity building programme for Women leaders and officials in Uttarakhand, the initiative of the National Commission for Women, in collaboration with the National Commission, the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini and Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS/ISRO) on 8 & 9 July 2024. This was the 4th programme in the series that is dedicated to promoting space and geospatial technologies for women leaders involved in grassroots development. The EarthSight Foundation team is thankful to Dr RP Singh, Director IIRS, Ms Shefali Aggarwal, Group Director, Geospatial Technology & Outreach Program Group of IIRS and other scientists for their support and active involvement during this two-day training workshop. About 60 women elected leaders, NGO representatives and government officials from various sectors involved in grassroots development grasped the power of Space and Geospatial technologies and were enabled to adapt these tools/solutions in their activities.

  • Dr. Mohan Yadav, Hon. Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, inaugurated the 5th Geospatial Capacity Building Programme for Women leaders on 23-24 August 2024. The occasion of 23 August 2024 was also celebrated as National Space Day in the gracious presence of the Hon. Chief Minister and the women leaders. The training, which is the initiative of the National Commission for Women, was delivered by the EarthSight Foundation in collaboration with the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini. This was the 5th programme in the series that is dedicated to promoting space and geospatial technologies for women leaders involved in grassroots development. The EarthSight Foundation team is thankful to Shr Lokesh Sharma, CEO of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis (AIGGPA BHOPAL) and Shri Rajesh Kumar Gupta (Director AIGGPA) for their support and active involvement during this two-day training workshop. About 50 elected women leaders, NGO representatives and government officials from various sectors involved in grassroots development grasped the power of Space and Geospatial technologies and were enabled to adapt these tools/solutions in their activities.

  • The EarthSight Foundation in collaboration with DeepStambh Charitable Trust, celebrated the National Space Day on 31 August- the first half was engaged with the rural students and second half was dedicated to interacting with the leaders involved in rural development - in pursuit of offering benefits of geospatial technologies to grassroots level. Through interactive sessions, students were introduced to how these technologies can be applied in various fields such as agriculture, water management, and environmental conservation. The aim was to spark their interest and inspire them to think about how modern spatial tools can be utilized to solve local challenges and create positive changes in their communities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing workshops and training sessions to promote GIS technologies and applications across various sectors Key Responsibilities: 
  • Plan and facilitate workshops and training sessions, ensuring participants receive comprehensive instruction on GIS technologies and applications.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including objectives, timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
